First Spring Outing

Saturday is family day. I don't like to schedule anything on Saturdays but prayer. So when we have a beautiful Spring day like it was today,  we can pack up the car with balls, food, and lawn blankets and drive to one of our favorite scenic places.

Turkey in America

The grand and beautiful mosque that was recently built has brought a little bit of Turkey to America, well maybe a whole lot bit! The Mosque is exquisite, mashaAllah and for those of us who have never visited the Muslim world, this is the next best thing.

al-Madina Institute

A wonderful local group that holds events in our area is al-Madina Institute. They have an annual conference coming up soon in Virginia which will feature some of the premier scholars of our time. We can not live in the past during the time of our Beloved Prophet and the Sahabah, or even in the time of some of the great scholars such Imam Ghazali and Imam Haddad. These Scholars we have now will also die one day which makes me sad to think about, so our family makes it a point to benefit and take advantage of all the opportunities that Allah opens to us. Yes, we are known to travel great distances to seek knowledge, one because I LOVE ♥ to travel, but two because we understand the value in it.

Ramadan for Intelligent People

I don't really like the title of those "for Dummies" books, yes I may be lacking in the sense of humor department. But I don't think being inquisitive is being dumb. So I have decided to name this post, Ramadan for Intelligent People because if you are here, reading my blog, you have to be intelligent :-)

Park Quest

We love to be outdoors: swimming, hiking, fishing, exploring nature, you get my point. Being cooped up inside is to chaos, as being outside in nature is to peace. . . and I love PEACE.

Our new awesome homeschool friends told us about a wonderful perk of living in Maryland: Park Quest. Maryland Department of Natural Resources sponsors an outdoor adventure "where a family becomes a team" as the motto goes. 23 Maryland State Parks will offers free entrance to 1000 families to complete a an adventure quest. Quest can be anything from canoeing to an Island, riding your bike along a mountain trail, or going on a mock archaeological dig.
