Moon- 3 part card, book, & FUN!

We are having fun learning about the moon and it's phases. I created a couple of printables just for the occasion. They have more professional ones at Montessori Print Shop, but why pay if you can make them for free. I store my 3 part cards in a folder that is included in the printable, the idea came from here. Office Max mini sorter works well with my folder, the label fits perfectly with it.

We have tons of Amazon boxes, mostly gifts, but some things that we order ourselves. It's nice to be able to utilize the Three R's in Homeschool, and this time we Re-Used a box to make a depiction of the moon phase.

S Man was really into it, he actually would tell us what we should do before any of us read it in the directions. How's that for intuitive genius!

Lil A was able to use the 3 part cards for matching. My newly four year old also knows the difference between a gibbous and a crescent.
They created their own moon books. I really like these desktop organizers from Office Max. They have a place to put the picture, glue stick, colored pencils, and papers needed to make their book. I thought it served as a nice variation to the Montessori wooden tray and pencil holder. This way everything is in one place.

We utilized Google Earth to track out the moon phases. I absolutely love Google and this is one of their nicest programs. We used a worksheet from K12 and first drew what the moon should look like each day. Then we observed the moon and drew what it actually looked like.

What's learning without a special treat? Trader Joe's supplied us with our healthier version of the Oreo to make the moon phase. We enjoyed eating our moons for a nice iftar snack, after the sun went down and our fast was over.
